<p>Turkey and Iran, two rivals for regional supremacy, are also competing for power and influence in Iraq. Both states use military, economic and political instruments and work together with various local actors to realize their interests and restrict the ability of others to act. This is at the expense of Iraq’s sovereignty. Although the gain in power of one goes hand in hand with a&#xa0;loss of power of the other, Turkey and Iran can also cooperate for common interests in Iraq.</p>

Turkey and Iran, two rivals for regional supremacy, are also competing for power and influence in Iraq.
