<p>The unwavering support for Israel has significantly damaged Germany’s credibility in the Global South, where the Gaza war and Germany’s <i>Staatsraison</i> have become symbols of Western double standards. The obvious dissonance between Germany’s commitment to a&#xa0;values-based foreign policy and its support for Israel despite serious war crimes risks eroding the rules-based international order. To counteract this trend, German foreign policy requires a&#xa0;fundamental reorientation to a&#xa0;principled commitment to international law.</p>
