Immanuel Kant represents an illusion-free concept for creating and maintaining peace. His essay Towards Perpetual Peace (1795) offers an ever-relevant framework for evaluating the war in Ukraine and for drawing lessons for the political actions of NATO states. In accordance with Kantian reason and the duty of peace, no opportunity should be missed to explore an end to wars, which underlines the importance of the lessons of the Cold War and the double strategy of the Harmel concept of 1967.
