North Sumatra Provincial Government Policy for the Management of Toba Caldera UNESCO Global Geopark (TCUGGp)
摘要
The management of UNESCO Global Geoparks must include four main features, namely: international geological heritage, management, visibility, and networks. As one of UNESCO’s Global Geoparks, Toba Caldera must meet these criteria to maintain its membership status. This study aims to analyze the policies implemented and needed to be implemented by the North Sumatra Government to manage the Toba Caldera UNESCO Global Geopark (TCUGGp). The study used a qualitative narrative method, with data sourced from documents, such as provincial and district government regulations and policies, planning documents, activity reports from the Regional Apparatus in North Sumatra Province and Regency, and other references. Planning documents and activity reports are sourced from provincial and regency regional Apparatus, namely: the Development Planning Agency; the Department of Culture and Tourism; the Department of Environment and Forestry; the Department of Industry, Trade, Energy, and Mineral Resources; and the Department of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises. This study concluded that regulations and policies supporting geopark management at the central, provincial, and district levels are still minimal for each geopark feature. The commitment of the North Sumatra Provincial Government to the sustainability of TCUGGp is reflected in an action plan outlined in the development planning document, which regional apparatus organizations at the provincial and district levels can implement.
