Geotourism is an evolving segment within the tourism sector that is attracting increasing interest worldwide, including in Brazil, particularly with the growth of UNESCO Global Geoparks (UGGps). Investigations in this field primarily emphasize geosciences, while also receiving acknowledgment from the tourism industry. This research aimed to characterize the profile of geotourists in the Caminhos dos Cânions do Sul UNESCO Global Geopark (CCSUGGp) located in Brazil. The investigation focused on three Sites of Geological Interest (SGI) within one of the municipalities that are part of the UGGp. The methodology employed included a comprehensive literature review and semi-structured interviews with visitors, which were categorized into three main sections: (i) socioeconomic information; (ii) general tourism insights; and (iii) specific tourism data related to visits to CCSUGGp, followed by an analysis of the gathered data. The findings of this study indicate that the socioeconomic characteristics of visitors to Praia Grande predominantly consist of middle-aged females with medium to high income levels, who are primarily white and possess completed higher education. Additionally, the tourist profile reveals that most visitors originate from the states encompassing the CCSUGGp, highlighting a trend of regional or domestic tourism, with many individuals visiting the area for the first time with a tendency towards geotourism. It is therefore concluded that conducting surveys on tourism profile is essential, and it is advisable to continue these efforts to monitor market fluctuations, thereby enhancing visitor satisfaction and ensuring the preservation of UGGps and their SGI.
