<p>Colored strata provide a strong visual impact and attract a large number of geoscience tourism enthusiasts and studies. X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence spectrometer, Mossbauer spectrometer are employed to decrypt the colored strata of Linze County. The result shows that: There is no significant correlation between the chemical weathering index of colored strata and the color hue change of rocks. However, a strong correlation exists between redox index and color hue, with stronger reducibility corresponding colder hues. The total iron content of red and yellow strata of Linze colored hills is high (6.51 wt% and 5.87 wt%, respectively), suggesting that the red (warm color) is related to iron. However, the total iron content of typical red Danxia Formation in South China is only 0.81 wt%, indicating that there is no simple correspondence between total iron and red color. The grayish green formation is related to clay minerals, the yellow formation may be mainly related to iron sulfide, and the red formation is related to iron oxide and iron-bearing calcite/dolomite. Notably, the content of feldspar in yellow formation is high, and the influence of feldspar on color cannot be ruled out.</p>
