Using GIS for Establishing UNESCO Geopark for Sustainable Geoturism in Hima Region- Najran, Saudi Arabia
摘要
This project aims to suggest a geopark for geosites in Saudi Arabia's Hima area and Najran province. The region's size, which includes six municipalities, is around 7.25 km2. The territory has a range of geosites that exhibit diverse typologies, including tectonic, palaeoenvironmental, geomorphological, and hydrogeological features. Additionally. The methodology used in the present work is detailed field and GIS mapping to propose a complete map for establishing the Hima region geopark. The current study involves the establishment of geosites within the designated geopark area to establish connections between global cultural heritage and geological sites. There are diverse types of attractions that cater to the preferences of alternative tourists. The findings of this study provide valuable insights that can contribute to the promotion and enhanced understanding of geotourism in the Hima region. This region shows great potential and can be effectively developed with careful planning and design.
