摘要

Hoboksar Mongol Autonomous County in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, located in northwestern China, boasts numerous paleovolcanic and paleontological sites of scientific and educational significance, particularly in the Xiemisitai and Shaerbuerti Mountains. These geosites offer valuable insights into the tectonic evolution of the Hongguleleng-Balkybey Ocean during the early Paleozoic, including plate collisions and subsequent post-collisional extension events. And they have rich teaching value for geology major education. Moreover, the paleontological sites provide not only educational value but also significant importance for studying the Devonian tectonic environment and understanding biological extinction events. Quantitative assessments have demonstrated that these geosites possess a higher global value. However, remote sensing technology and field investigations have revealed that these geosites are facing threats from human activities highlighting the urgent need for geoconservation efforts in the area.
