<p>Understanding nutritional needs and promoting efficient use of water are essential factors for adequately increasing sugarcane yield. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of nitrogen (N) doses, applied via pulse and continuous subsurface drip fertigation, on the extraction and export of nutrients by sugarcane. The experiment was conducted in the field, in randomized blocks, with a factorial arrangement (5 × 2) and four replicates. Treatments consisted of five N doses (80, 120, 160, 240, and 320&#xa0;kg&#xa0;ha<sup>−1</sup>) and two types of irrigation application: pulse and continuous. At 310&#xa0;days after cutting, sugarcane was harvested, and 10 plants per plot were separated (stems and shoots) to determine the production of dry biomass, as well as the extraction and export of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, iron, manganese, copper, and zinc. Pulse irrigation promoted greater production of shoot and stem dry biomass, besides favoring greater extraction and export of nutrients by the crop. N doses of 268.3 and 223.5&#xa0;kg&#xa0;ha<sup>−1</sup> increased dry biomass production, while N doses of 192.9 to 244.2&#xa0;kg&#xa0;ha<sup>−1</sup> and 160 to 191.4&#xa0;kg&#xa0;ha<sup>−1</sup> were more efficient for the extraction and export of nutrients. The decreasing order of nutrient extraction and export, for both pulse and continuous irrigation management, was: K &gt; N &gt; Ca &gt; P &gt; S &gt; Mg &gt; Fe &gt; Zn &gt; Mn &gt; Cu.</p>
