Effect of Five Seed-Coating Agents on the Germination Rate and the Evaluation of Control Effect on the Damping-Off Disease of Sugar Beet
摘要
At present, seed-coating agents are generally used to prevent and control plant diseases and insect pests, regulate plant growth, and ensure crop yields. In this study, the effects of five seed-coating agents on the germination rate of beet seeds and their control effect on beet damping-off in the field were evaluated by indoor and field methods to choose the best fungicide to achieve a high germination rate, a high seedling emergence rate, and effective prevention and control effect on damping-off in sugar beet. According to the data, all treatments reduced sugar beet seed germination and emergence to varying degrees. TBY-2 (25% hymexazol + 15% clothianidin WS) with a control effect of 85.39% showed the most pronounced antibacterial action of the five seed-coating agents tested in this study. The seed germination and emergence rates achieved with TBY-2 were comparable to those of the control, at 80.50% and 75.59%, respectively. The TBY-1 control effect was 73.03%, with germination and emergence rates slightly lower than those of the control at 77.25% and 72.42%, respectively. We suggest that the use of TBY-2 is a powerful, environmentally safe and cost-effective approach for sustainable and long-term protection of sugar beet from disease.
