Effect of Commensalism and Amensalism on a Predator-Prey Model
摘要
The role of unilateral interactions in the stability and permanence of the diverse populations that make up an ecological community is one of the current topics of interest in Ecology. In this paper such role has been studied in the context of a predation-prey interaction and the introduction of amensalism and commensalism as unilateral interactions. Indeed, our study is carried out in a 3-dimensional ODE model of predator-prey type (one prey, one predator and a third amensal or commensal population). The dynamical analysis of the model shows the impact of amensalism and commensalism on population coexistence. In particular, conditions for the Hopf and Bogdanov-Taken bifurcationx are given in terms of parameters that measure amensalism the parameters that measure the strength of the amensalism and commensalism. Derived from such analysis and numerical simulations, the coexistence of the three populations is guaranteed, and some insight is gained into the ecological characteristics of the predator-prey interactions and the stabilizing effect of unilateral interactions.
