Allergierisiko und ätherische Öle
摘要
Fragrances can trigger allergic reactions. The resulting type IV allergy can be diagnosed with a patch test. In the case of contact allergies comprehensive differential diagnostics should also always be carried out. As the composition of essential oils is variable, the differentiation of the triggering allergen is not always easy. In mixtures of aromatic substances the sensitization potential of one of the constituents can be reduced by another ingredient or even completely extinguished (quenching effect). Potential allergenic effects of essential oils should always be considered when they are used. Overall, the advantages prevail in the competent application of essential oils but attention should always be paid to a high quality and the correct storage conditions.
