Tabak- und Alkoholprävention
摘要
Alcohol is the most frequently consumed drug in Germany, followed by tobacco. Both substances are risk factors for cancer and both also cause other chronic diseases. Both induce high costs to the healthcare system and to society. Nevertheless, Germany does not sufficiently use the high potential for tobacco and alcohol prevention. For effective prevention, prevention policies, which are changing the environment in a favorable way to make a healthy lifestyle the easy living style, are necessary. These policies should be implemented as part of a prevention strategy in a health-in-all approach. Such a consistent evidence-based prevention approach has the potential to protect young people from taking up the use of harmful products and at the same time to motivate users to stop. Lower consumption entails fewer health consequences. Ultimately, prevention contributes to a healthier, more productive society and at the same time saves high costs for society and the state.
