<p>Cancer is associated with numerous physical and psychosocial burdens. It poses a&#xa0;variety of challenges for those affected, which must be processed and overcome during the course of the disease. The aim of coping with the disease is to adapt to the changed life situation. Both individual self-help strategies and organized self-help services can play an important role in these processes through exchange with others who are affected in the same way. In the literature dealing with peer support, resilience is discussed as a&#xa0;central construct for stress resistance. This article provides an overview of the reception of the concept of resilience in the context of organized cancer self-help and presents the current state of research based on selected publications.</p>
