<p>General practitioners contribute to oncological care, but statistical analyses are unavailable so far. Clinical cancer registries might serve as an adequate source for such analyses. The contribution of general practitioners to oncological care was analyzed based on their reports to the cancer registry of Rhineland-Palatinate in the Institute for Digital Health Data RLP in the years 2016–2022. Analyses were performed using&#xa0;R (R&#xa0;Core Team, 2020 and&#xa0;RStudio Team, 2019). In Rhineland-Palatinate general practitioners transfer an average of 400&#xa0;reports per year to the cancer registry. These cover nearly all tumor entities. The main causes of reports were diagnosis and follow-up. The number of institutions with a&#xa0;low number of reports decreased during the observation period but the number of institutions with more than 20&#xa0;reports per year rose. Our results provide first insights into the efforts made by general practitioners with respect to the care of cancer patients. Ongoing studies including data from health insurances providers and other registries will provide further information on the services of this group of medical specialists.</p>
