MethodsThe concept of salutogenesis according to Antonovsky and the coping strategies according to Lazarus are concepts that can be used as a preventive treatment approach to dealing with cancer and the resulting stressors.
ResultsCoping strategies offer a practical and individual opportunity to develop an awareness of the salutogenic protective factors and to positively influence the course of disease by their activation.
ConclusionConscious use of combined coping strategies promotes the resilience of persons suffering from cancer.
