Arzneimittelkompetenz bei Patient*innen mit oraler Tumortherapie

For a safe and successful therapy with oral tumor therapies, patients need sufficient medication literacy. They must be able to understand medication information and use it correctly. This also applies to the correct handling of expected side effects. As part of the development of a previously nonexistent questionnaire to measure medication literacy in patients with oral tumor therapy, a focus group interview was conducted with experts from oncology, nursing, pharmacy and patient representatives. Necessary competences and skills as well as main challenges and difficulties with therapy in the patient’s home were identified. The results were used to complement and further develop the questionnaire, which can be used as a patient-relevant endpoint for future research projects and to identify patients with an increased need for counselling and information.
