Molekulare Tumorboards

Molecular tumor boards (MTBs) have been established at top university centers and larger cancer centers in recent years and have become an indispensable component of and important tool in personalized cancer medicine. Their aim is to translate specific molecular biomarkers relating to both the tumor and the patient into an evidence-based (molecular) treatment decision. The MTBs thus not only promote personalized oncological concepts at the patient level, but also contribute to knowledge-generating care for future oncological patients through the harmonized provision of different clinical and complex diagnostic datasets. The long-term goal of MTBs is to optimize and accelerate the transition of effective molecular therapies into the daily treatment process through forward and reverse translation concepts.
