Degmacytes (Bite Cells): A Diagnostic Clue to Acute Dapsone Poisoning
摘要
Dapsone ingestion can cause severe methemoglobinemia with oxidative hemolysis. We report a 4-year-old girl with accidental dapsone ingestion presenting with cyanosis and elevated methemoglobin levels. The presence of bite cells and Heinz bodies on peripheral smear served as an important morphological correlate. Prompt treatment with methylene blue led to rapid clinical and biochemical recovery.
