<p>Anemia is the main complication of patients with hematological malignancies, and seriously impairs the effectiveness of treatment. Therefore, identifying effective treatments for anemia caused by hematological malignancies is essential. Herein, luspatercept was used to treat anemia in 5 patients with hematological malignancies. All patients presented with severe anemia that required blood transfusion, and had shown no response to traditional erythropoietic stimulators. The reticulocyte counts and hemoglobin levels of three patients were significantly increased after one week of luspatercept treatment without adverse events. These 3 cases suggest luspatercept as an effective and safe option for relieving severe anemia caused by hematological malignancies, and thereby relieving the need for blood transfusion.</p>
