摘要

The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effect of Benson’s relaxation technique on the quality of life of adolescents undergoing bone marrow transplantation. The present clinical trial was conducted on adolescents aged 10 to 18 years old undergoing bone marrow transplantation in Tehran Children’s Medical Center in 2022. First, the 50 patients were selected by the available method, then they divided into two intervention and control groups by block randomization. Participants of the intervention group performed Benson relaxation technique for 20 min twice a day for a period of 15 days. No intervention was conducted in the control group. The data collection tool included the demographic information form and the EORTC QLQ-C30, which was completed by two groups before and immediately and one month after the intervention. The data were analyzed in SPSS software version 20 using t-test, chi-square, and repeated measures ANOVA.The result showed that The result showed that in intervention group physical function, cognitive function, emotional function, social function, clinical symptoms and general health/ total QOL increased significantly over time (p < 0.001), but this increase was not significant in the control group (P > 0.05). The Benson relaxation technique improves the quality of life of adolescents undergoing bone marrow transplantation. Considering the simplicity and ease of this technique, it is suggested to be taught to cancer patients by nurses.
