Fördern Frauen in politischen Ämtern auf lokaler Ebene die politische Deliberation?

The article examines the question of whether women in local political offices have an influence on the use of dialog-oriented citizen participation procedures. The analysis is based on a unique combination of macro-quantitative data from 817 municipalities in Baden-Württemberg. The results show a significant positive influence of the presence of women in municipal council and mayoral offices on the number of dialog-based participation events taking place in the municipalities. Furthermore, a higher proportion of seats in municipal councils hold by the green party is associated with more dialogical participation, whereby part of this correlation is mediated by the proportion of women in municipal councils.
