<p>As the two-part article on drug-based therapy of cutaneous malignant melanoma clearly shows: in advanced tumor stages, treatment is primarily medical. In the first part, we examined the background of malignant melanoma and the individual active agents. In this article, we now deal specifically with the stage-dependent treatment of advanced melanoma diseases. Here, we list both the guideline-based treatment options as well as further therapeutic options. The latter are standard even if they have not yet been included in the valid guideline. Head and neck surgeons need to understand how one-size-fits-all treatment has changed into a&#xa0;multimodal and multisequential treatment regime. Only those who have this knowledge can meaningfully integrate these therapeutic options into their own treatment concept and determine the significance of surgical intervention.</p>
