摘要

Thanks to precise biological and patho-/physiological knowledge, autogenous tooth transplantation has been a safe treatment method with a very high success rate for decades. In recent years, however, it has been increasingly pushed into the background by implantology, partly because no industry has any interest in it. Nevertheless, autogenous tooth transplantation is highly topical, as it represents an excellent, cost-effective, and practicable complement or alternative to orthodontic treatment, conventional prosthetic restoration and implant treatment. Particularly in young patients, the long-term success rate is over 95% over a period of more than 20 years. The surgeon’s experience and regular clinical and radiographic check-ups, at least in the first two postoperative years, play a decisive role here. Possible inflammatory complications can thus be detected early and treated successfully.
