Traumatologie als Impulsgeber für Innovationen in der Mund‑, Kiefer- und Gesichtschirurgie

Treatment of injuries has always provided the impetus for new developments in medicine. Oral and maxillofacial surgery in particular shows how new techniques are adapted and transferred to other indications and procedures. The pivotal point here has been imaging—in addition to conventional X‑rays, 3D imaging has served as a stimulus for further developments such as intraoperative navigation or computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) procedures. The connection between the individual innovations and the mutual dependence is shown herein.
