Understanding Fungi-Host Dynamics: The Role of Immuno Suppression and Real-World Clinical Scenario

This review explores the complex relationships of host-fungus interactions in order to better understand the causes, diagnosis, and treatment of mycosis. With opportunistic pathogens including Aspergillus fumigatus, Mucorales, Candida albicans, and Cryptococcus neoformans as well as pathogenic fungi such as Histoplasma as its focus, the study offers a thorough examination of their pathogenic mechanisms by shedding light on invasion mechanisms, virulence factors, biofilm formation and iron uptake. It also incorporates interactions with human hosts, highlighting the roles of innate and adaptive immunity including immune invasion and evasion tactics. Understanding host-fungus interactions can give potential targets for therapeutic approaches, antifungal medications and vaccines to address the significant health burden posed by invasive fungal infections. While our study have shed light on fungi-hosts interactions, there are still gaps in our understanding of the molecular mechanisms of fungal pathogenicity, fungal virulence factors and environmental factors that impact on fungal pathogenicity. The complexities of these interactions demand further exploration. Comprehending these procedures is essential for designing targeted treatment plans and enhancing outcomes for patients.
