Fusariosis in Children
摘要
Fungi of the genus Fusarium are rare molds responsible for a wide spectrum of infections in humans, with limited literature available on its impact in children. This review aims to elucidate the primary characteristics of Fusarium infection in pediatric cases.
Recent FindingsInvasive pediatric fusariosis predominantly affects children with hematological malignancies who experience severe immunosuppression, particularly neutropenia. Clinical presentations often involve disseminated disease, with skin lesions and deep-seated infections. Management is challenging and requires a comprehensive approach, including addressing underlying diseases, enhancing the immune system, surgical debridement, and antifungal therapy.
SummaryFusariosis in immunosuppressed children poses a life-threatening risk. Despite aggressive treatments with novel antifungal agents, mortality rates remain high. Continued research and therapeutic advancements are critical to improving outcomes for this serious condition in pediatric healthcare.
