They enable controlled studies of toxicity, disease mechanisms and physiological processes at the cellular level. In addition, they offer the potential to replace animal testing and improve reproducibility. This article discusses the current areas of application for fish cell cultures and highlights prospects for their broader integration into future research.</p>
