摘要

Herpesviruses depend on a multi-component fusion machinery, which features the highly conserved glycoprotein B (gB) to fuse the virus and host cell membrane. gB is therefore a prime target to directly prevent virus host cell entry and thus could be the key to future vaccine development and therapeutic approaches. We determined the structure of prefusion gB and isolated a highly specific single domain antibody with therapeutic potential.
