Wie Kryo-ET die zelluläre Strukturbiologie von Retrotransposons aufklärt
摘要
Transposable elements (TEs) are mobile DNA sequences that have shaped genomes throughout evolution. In Drosophila melanogaster, LTR elements, TEs that are related to retroviruses, such as the copia retrotransposon persist and some are actively expressed. Using cryo-ET, we visualized copia and discovered its association with nuclear pores, suggesting NPC-mediated translocation of entire virus-like particles. Our study demonstrates the power of cryo-ET for studying mobile genetic elements in situ.
