<p>Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) are created by reprogramming somatic cells using specific transcription factors. They resemble embryonic stem cells in their ability to self-renew and differentiate into all three germ layers. iPSCs are widely used for disease modeling due to their patient-specific genetic background. This article focuses on iPSC-based organoid and co-culture models to study the gut-brain axis, especially in the context of inflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases.</p>
