Unexpected Perils of Liposuction: Abdominal Wall Necrosis with Visceral Complications
摘要
Liposuction is a standard cosmetic procedure that improves overall appearance, reshapes the body, and removes stubborn fat deposits. However, liposuction carries the same risks of major complications as any surgical procedure, particularly if not carried out carefully and accurately. We present the case of a patient who underwent liposuction and developed significant complications, and injury to internal organs, including extensive necrosis of the abdominal wall during further course of management. Comprehensive medical care, visceral injury repair, and surgical debridement of necrotic tissue were used to manage the patient. The case study emphasises the importance of appropriate patient selection, meticulous preoperative assessment, good surgical technique, and postoperative monitoring to reduce the risks associated with liposuction. The purpose of this report is to increase awareness of the terrible consequences that liposuction can have, especially in high-risk patients. Even though liposuction can be a safe and successful procedure, everyone should exercise enough caution to avoid potentially fatal consequences.
