摘要

Total avulsion of the esophagogastric junction is extremely rare after blunt trauma. The management of this type of injury is challenging. Here, we report a case of a 23-year-old man with complete esophagogastric avulsion due to free fall from approximately 8 m. To date, only four cases have been reported with such an injury, all of them were children. This is the fifth case reported with esophagogastric transection and the first reported in an adult, to the best of our knowledge. Immediate primary anastomosis, pyloroplasty due to vagal injury, and early enteral feeding via jejunostomy tube may yield favorable outcomes.
