Axillary Chondroid Syringoma: an Unusual Presentation of a Rare Skin Adnexal Neoplasm
摘要
Chondroid syringoma is a rare benign skin adnexal tumor most frequently observed in the head and neck region; axillary involvement is distinctly uncommon. A 75-year-old man presented with a slowly enlarging, painless right axillary mass of 20 years’ duration. Imaging demonstrated a well-circumscribed, subcutaneous lesion with calcification, but cytology was inconclusive. Wide excision yielded a 15.5 × 9 × 8.5 cm mass. Histopathology revealed biphasic epithelial and myoepithelial elements within a chondromyxoid stroma, confirming chondroid syringoma. Axillary chondroid syringoma may masquerade as more common lesions such as lipoma or lymphadenopathy; definitive diagnosis is histological. Complete surgical excision with margin clearance is curative.
