摘要

A chronic, suppurative inflammation that affects several mucosal surfaces is characteristic of actinomycosis. Gram-positive, anaerobic bacilli from the Actinomycetaceae family cause it, as they are a natural component of the genitourinary and gastrointestinal systems. Although the infection can occur in various anatomical locations, the cervicofacial area (55%) and the abdominopelvic region (20%) are the most commonly impacted areas. Here, we describe a 52-year-old man who developed omental actinomycosis after he complained of stomach pain and an epigastric tumor. Imaging revealed a heterogeneous lesion with a 2 cm linear radiopaque structure. It was suspected to be a foreign body because it was encircled by fat stranding anteriorly, adhering to the linea alba, and increased soft tissue density lesions. Histopathological analysis verified the diagnosis of omental actinomycosis after the patient had a laparotomy and the lump was removed.
