How to do a Thoracoscopic-Laparoscopic Surgery for a Middle Thoracic Esophageal Diverticulum with Underlying Achalasia
摘要
Large symptomatic esophageal diverticulum (ED) may require surgical correction. When evidence of underlying esophageal motility disorder exists, surgery implies the combined treatment of both conditions. The issue may become challenging when facing a middle thoracic ED, where an additional surgical access in the thorax is required. Few reports exist regarding such combined treatment via a minimally invasive approach. This article presents our surgical technique for treating a middle thoracic ED with an underying type II achalasia via a thoracoscopic-laparoscopic approach.
