Challenges in Diagnosing and Managing Sarcomatoid Carcinoma of the Gallbladder and Synchronous Colon Cancer
摘要
Sarcomatoid carcinoma of the gallbladder (SCGB) is a rare and aggressive variant of gallbladder cancer, and its coexistence with colon cancer is exceedingly uncommon. We report a case of an 86-year-old woman who presented with right upper abdominal pain initially suspected as cholecystitis. Further evaluation revealed a colonic mass, and laparoscopic resection unexpectedly confirmed both SCGB and colon cancer. Due to the patient’s advanced age, radical surgery and chemotherapy were not pursued, and she remained recurrence-free during follow-up. This case underscores the challenges of diagnosing and managing concurrent SCGB and colon cancer.
