Vaginal Cuff Dehiscence—A Serious But Rare Complication: A Case Report

One of rare but serious complications post-hysterectomy can be vaginal cuff dehiscence (hereinafter referred to as VCD). It is the partial or complete separation of edges of vaginal cuff which were sutured at the time of hysterectomy and can lead to severe morbidity in terms of bowel evisceration, bowel ischemia, sepsis, and peritonitis. It is a rare complication presenting in less than 1% of post-hysterectomy cases; however, early detection and management is necessary to achieve favorable outcomes.
