A new species, Phlogacanthus dhruvakumarjhae (Acanthaceae) is described from Arunachal Pradesh, India. It is similar to P. curviflorus, but P. dhruvakumarjhae has longer staminodes, and the leaves are less distinctly petiolate than in P. curviflorus. The new species also resembles P. thyrsiformis in its leaves, but differs by having a glabrous inflorescence and long staminodes. An identification key to the Phlogacanthus of northeastern India and photographs of the new species and other congeners are provided.
