<p>A taxonomic revision of the genus <i>Beilschmiedia</i> Nees is presented for the Indo-Burmese region, based on analysis of about 313 herbarium specimens from 19 herbaria. A total of 17 species are recognized and treated with references, type citations, synonymies, phenologies, local names and uses (if any), habitat, distribution, and lists of specimens examined; a key to the 17 species is also provided. <i>Beilschmiedia bhutanica</i> M.Gangop. and <i>B. brandisii</i> Hook.f. are treated as synonyms of <i>B. roxburghiana</i> Nees, while <i>B. gallatlyi</i> M.Gangop. is treated as a synonym of <i>B. lucidula</i> (Miq.) Kosterm.</p>
