摘要

The modern generic circumscription of the tribe Senecioneae (Compositae) from the Greater Antilles is based mainly on the proposal made by the Swedish botanist Bertil Nordenstam. Several new genera were described to accommodate the species traditionally included in the genus Senecio sensu lato. After a revision of the nomenclature and typification of the species belonging to this group, the names Conyza lucens, Herodotia haitiensis, Senecio buchii, S. carinatus, S. cubensis, S. eriocarphus, S. fuertesii, S. haitiensis, S. leucolepis, S. picardae, S. rivalis, S. samanensis, S. shaferi, S. subsquarrosus, and S. trichotomus are lectotypified, and an epitype is further designated for S. picardae. Moreover, the new required combination Elekmania domingensis is made.
