We describe and illustrate Freziera antioquensis (Pentaphylacaceae), a new species, known from two specimens collected in the Cordillera Occidental of Colombia, Antioquia department, in the Chocó Biogeographic region. Among the morphological attributes that distinguish this new species from its congeners is the dense pubescence, with long trichomes, covering the young branches, petioles and underside of the leaf blades, as well as the absence of trichomes on the bracteoles and sepals. With the description of this species, Colombia has about 27 species of Freziera, 12 of which are endemic and known from only one or two herbarium specimens.
