<p>A new species of <i>Gynura</i> Cass. (Compositae) is described from Comoros. It was originally treated as <i>Senecio petitianus</i> subvar. <i>discoideus</i> Humbert. The long-exserted, gradually tapered and remarkably papillose style branches reveal that this is not a member of the genus <i>Senecio</i> L. but of <i>Gynura</i>. The species presents morphological affinities with the tropical African species <i>G. scandens</i> O.Hoffm. and the endemic Seychelles Islands species <i>G. sechellensis</i> (Baker) Hemsl. Following the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria, a provisional risk of extinction status of Endangered is assigned to the new species. A line drawing and field pictures are also provided.</p>

摘要

A new species of Gynura Cass. (Compositae) is described from Comoros. It was originally treated as Senecio petitianus subvar. discoideus Humbert. The long-exserted, gradually tapered and remarkably papillose style branches reveal that this is not a member of the genus Senecio L. but of Gynura.
