<p>The genus <i>Iphigenia</i> Kunth has hitherto been represented by one indigenous species, in Australia, since it was established. It is revised here, with one new species <i>I. brevis</i> Jian Wang ter sp. nov. for Australia. Descriptions of both the original species <i>I. indica</i> (L.) A.Gray ex Kunth and the new species are provided, as well as scanning electron microscope images and photographs. Notes are provided on distribution, habitat, phenology, affinities, etymology and conservation status. An identification key for the two Australian species is also provided.</p>
