A revised typification of the Linnaean name Arctium personata, basionym of Carduus personata (Compositae)

The typification of the Linnaean name Arctium personata, the basionym of the currently accepted name Carduus personata (L.) Jacq. (Compositae) is revised. This name had previously been “typified” by Duistermaat in 1996 from a specimen kept in the herbarium LINN (Herb. Linnaeus No. 964.2). However, Linnaeus cited in the protologue a specimen from the Joachim Burser Herbarium, currently preserved at UPS-BURSER (Herb. Burser XXI: 13 [UPS No. V-175493]). Following Art. 9.6 and 9.12 of the current Code, this specimen is to be considered a syntype which must be chosen as the lectotype.
