Toward the rational design of zeolites

摘要

Zeolites are crystalline microporous materials with unique crystallographic and chemical properties. They play a crucial role in addressing sustainability issues in our society. Their distinctive structure allows them to selectively adsorb harmful substances, by leveraging polarity, topological arrangements, and channel geometry to capture and retain ions and chemical molecules. Zeolites exhibit thermal stability and remarkable regenerative capabilities, ensuring long-term material life and maintaining adsorbent capacity. For their sustainable supply and their efficient capacities, zeolites offer a promising solution to face environmental pollution challenges. This paper explores the exceptional characteristics of zeolites and emphasizes the role of the crystal chemistry in the optimization of industrial and environmental applications, with significant social impacts.
