<p>Uniform fuel distribution is crucial for minimizing NO<sub>x</sub> emission from a gas turbine combustor with a fuel supply system having multiple fuel lines and burner nozzles. Fuel mass distribution over multiple fuel supply lines is demonstrated by considering both the staging valves and the burner nozzles during load up process. The discrepancy in fuel mass distribution is as much as over 50 % between the case considering the combined effect of the staging valves and the burner nozzles and the case considering the staging valves only, which implies that the pressure drops are not negligible for both the staging valves and the burner nozzles. As uniform fuel distribution is not achieved by the original fuel supply scenario, an improved fuel supply scenario is devised for uniform fuel distribution by adjusting the opening of the staging valves and applying an orifice to the fuel lines having an on/off type staging valve. A sensitivity analysis of the SV opening area to fuel mass distribution shows that a relatively smaller opening area yields a higher sensitivity.</p>

Engineering design and analysis of fuel distribution in a fuel supply system of a large-scale gas turbine combustor

摘要

Uniform fuel distribution is crucial for minimizing NOx emission from a gas turbine combustor with a fuel supply system having multiple fuel lines and burner nozzles. Fuel mass distribution over multiple fuel supply lines is demonstrated by considering both the staging valves and the burner nozzles during load up process. The discrepancy in fuel mass distribution is as much as over 50 % between the case considering the combined effect of the staging valves and the burner nozzles and the case considering the staging valves only, which implies that the pressure drops are not negligible for both the staging valves and the burner nozzles.
