<p>Effective disinfection of dental impression materials is essential for the safety of both dental professionals and patients. This study evaluated the impact of UVC radiation (18×2 W, 254 nm) and chemical sanitizers on the mechanical properties of dental elastomers using ASTM D575 compression testing. Results showed that the untreated elastomer exhibited the ultimate load (6835.5 N) and displacement (7 mm). UVC-treated elastomers maintained comparable properties (ultimate load: 7575 N, displacement: 7 mm, p = 0.125), indicating minimal impact on mechanical properties. In contrast, chemically treated elastomers showed reduced ultimate load (6145.8 N) and displacement (7 mm, p = 0.082), suggesting material degradation due to polymer matrix disruption. While the p-values indicate trends rather than statistical significance, the findings suggest UVC sterilization is a promising method for preserving mechanical properties while ensuring effective disinfection of dental impression materials, and more future analysis is recommended.</p>
