Properties and structures of micro-arc oxide coatings on airplane aluminum alloys
摘要
In this study, four aircraft aluminum-alloy materials namely; 2219 T80, 2024 T3, 7075 T6, and 6061 T6 alloyed with Si (0.06 %–0.74 %) were treated using the micro-arc oxidation coating method to produce a very hard Al2O3 layer, microhardness test showed the formation of two hard layers, namely, the technological and main layers, with thicknesses ranging from 80 to 190 µm. The most important finding was the very high surface microhardness (1886 HV) in 2024 T6 alloyed with 0.5 % Si. An X-ray phase analysis revealed the formation of alkaline-silicate electrolyte coatings with a base layer thickness of 80–100 microns and high hardness (microhardness values up to 1224 HV), the maximum microhardness of the coatings on the Al-Si alloyed materials was 2038 HV.
