摘要

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading indirect cause of maternal deaths during pregnancy and the postpartum period. In August 2025, the updated guidelines of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) for the management of cardiovascular diseases in pregnancy were published. These guidelines replace the 2018 version and mark a paradigm shift towards patient-centered, interdisciplinary management. The focus is on a fundamental risk assessment using the mWHO Classification 2.0, combined with the comprehensive, integrated involvement of the pregnancy-heart team from preconception through the postpartum period and long-term care. The newly updated guidelines include various clearly defined case scenarios on chest pain, hypertension and other conditions to provide clear recommendations for everyday practice. A new chapter on adverse pregnancy events has been added to highlight how important medical support is for women even after pregnancy.
